A challenge. An alley of 250 meters long, about 1.3 meters wide with the gardens of residents on one side and garage boxes along the entire length on the other side. The subsurface is so polluted that it requires remediation with groundwater level at -0.5 meters below ground level. In the alley at a depth of 1 meter below ground level, a main sewer made of concrete that has been beyond its practical life for several years. This creates dangerous situations with increasingly sinkholes in the footpath.
The municipality of Edam Volendam asked them to draw up a plan together with them on how the work could be safely and energetically picked up, whereby sewer and house connections would be replaced. A nice job for us, but a logistics nightmare. With tailor-made fittings, suction trucks and telecranes, the alley was safe, without much inconvenience and relatively quickly refurbished.
