Improving accessibility Rotterdam Noord station

Anton Rail & Infra has been able to successfully insert the piles and sheet piles at Rotterdam Noord station. At the end of October, during the working weekend at Rotterdam Noord station, an unforeseen hard layer was encountered two meters underground. The sheet piling did not get through this. A delay looked unavoidable. Further investigation revealed that this hard layer was a wooden “relief floor”. This was used during the construction of the railway embankment to relieve the subsurface from extra weight. Together with ProRail, the project team devised, designed and calculated an alternative construction in 6 weeks. Pipe piles with special drill points would come through this hard layer. And last weekend we succeeded!
