Anton Rail & Infra wins the NSTT Audience Award 2019

16 October 2019

The NSTT No-Dig Award and NSTT Audience Award 2019 were handed out on 10 October 2019. Two projects were nominated for this. Both projects were aimed at reducing – with a lot of creativity and innovation – the nuisance caused by working on underground infrastructure. The scale and underlying techniques of both projects varied widely, which resulted in two very different nominations.

The NSTT Audience Award was determined by the visitors of the NSTT No-Dig Event 2019 where more than 1,500 visitors could vote. ProRail won the NSTT Audience Award, in collaboration with Anton Rail & Infra as main contractor and with Kouwenberg and Waverail as subcontractors. Together we developed a trenchless removal method for 40 mm PE pipes. A steel wire is hereby glued to the existing PE pipe. The PE pipe can then be pulled out on the base of the steel wire. The method has been tested on a rail yard. Here underground pipes for the washing and cleaning installation had to be removed and replaced. With the new method, over 3.5 km of pipeline was removed in two weekends. At the same time, the pipecrack method has also replaced 600 m of water pipes. The methods have proven to be time-saving, avoid excavation between the tracks, do not suffer from the contaminated soil and reduce the risk of damage to other cables and pipes.

We are very proud of receiving this prize and it provides extra incentive to continue to think and work creatively and innovatively.
