Anton Air Support has partnered with CLX Engineering to develop and demonstrate autonomous docking technology for Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs).
As part of this collaboration, a Passenger Boarding Bridge was installed at our Airport Obdam facility, creating a dedicated environment for testing and demonstrating autonomous docking technology to industry professionals and airport representatives.
During the demonstration, representatives from London Heathrow Airport were given the opportunity to experience the autonomous docking process firsthand. The system enables a Passenger Boarding Bridge to automatically and precisely dock with an aircraft door mock-up, without requiring an operator to manually control the docking process.
The fully autonomous docking sequence can be completed in less than 45 seconds, significantly reducing waiting time and contributing to a faster and more efficient boarding and disembarkation process.
Beyond speed, autonomous docking offers important advantages in terms of safety, accuracy and operational efficiency. By automating the docking procedure, the technology reduces the need for manual intervention while ensuring a consistent and precise connection between the passenger boarding bridge and the aircraft.
The installation at Airport Obdam provides Anton Air Support and CLX Engineering with a dedicated platform to further develop, test and demonstrate this technology in a realistic airport environment.
