Inspection car Zuidhorn Railway Bridge

The railway over the Van Starkenborgh Canal near Zuidhorn will be replaced by a larger more modern 175-meter-long bridge. In order to be able to carry out maintenance and inspection at the bottom of the railway bridge, Anton Construction works was asked to develop an inspection car.

The inspection vehicle must be compact because it must be able to inspect the entire width of the bridge via a track that comes under the bridge deck. We have developed a self-driving car with special cage ladders that is movable as horizontal to extend.

The inspection car has been produced and is being prepared in Obdam for a FAT (Factory Acceptance Test). For this a large test frame has been produced where reality can be simulated. After the FAT, the inspection vehicle will be transported in its entirety to Zuidhorn, where the car can be assembled and put into use.
